General Description

Welcome to the Village of Valley View website. Valley View is a quiet yet robust business friendly community of about 800 homes and just over 2000 residents, nestled away in the scenic Cuyahoga River Valley. We are a proud suburb south of Cleveland promoting great relationships with our bordering neighbor communities. Our median household income is nearly $83K complementing a median home value of $250K. The beautiful and mighty Cuyahoga (Crooked) River meanders its way the entire length of our Village adding to our abundance of nature. The scenic Cuyahoga Valley National Park encompasses 1150 of our 3615 acres. Along with the 5.8 miles of the Ohio and Erie Canal Scenic Byway; the revitalized towpath provides excellent walking and biking opportunities for residents and nearby businesses alike.

Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railway

In addition to its regular itinerary the “Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railway” hosts annual visits from vintage locomotives. A welcome treat for visitors and residents is the steam whistle that fills the valley walls on its excursion along the scenic river. The railway makes frequent stops at the replicated historic depots along the route thru the Cuyahoga Valley for passenger pickup.

We elect a Mayor, six Council seats, and a Clerk/ Treasurer. Local School System

Cuyahoga Heights School
Cuyahoga Heights School

The Villages of Valley View, Cuyahoga Heights, and Brooklyn Heights proudly support our local school system, Cuyahoga Heights Local Schools. Established in 1938 CHS was consistently rated as “Excellent”. This past year the report card rating system through the Ohio Department of Education changed to letter grades. In the first year of the new rating system, Cuyahoga Heights received an “A” on the overall rating of the report card. Our Elementary School (PreK thru 5th grade) averages 373 students and our Middle and High School averages 482 students with an overall average class size of about 22. Our students benefit from a highly qualified and dedicated teaching staff and consistently strong parental participation. CHS also offers excellent co-curricular activities with a high student inclusion percentage rate. Our dedicated Board of Education consists of 5 elected members. Our School system is part of the Cuyahoga Valley Vocational School, established in 1972 the modern facility provides excellent alternative skills for today’s growing demands of business and industry. Our Business Base

Businesses that settled here in our Village enjoy a low tax base, second lowest in Cuyahoga County, and our administration is determined to maintain that statistic. Our office space is generally in the 95% occupancy rate. Our “Sweet Valley”, “High Point”, and “Hub Park” office areas enjoy quiet amenities and fits well with our Theatre and restaurant area. The “vintage ambiance” of the LockKeeper Inn at Thornburg Station hosts one of northeast Ohio’s premier dining experiences. Of our more than 350 businesses, few are “retail storefronts” making for largely daytime office-type employment opportunities. Our business base strength is based upon diversity, consisting of a broad array of business segments which provide a well-balanced tax base.

Our Most Valuable Asset

Lastly, our most valuable asset is our people. We are a proud and resilient community, mostly grown from our founding-father farmer foundation and industrious blue collar heritage; yet with the virtue of pride and diligent work, our generations are proving their place in today’s society. We remain diverse, we live and strive together as a community, and we believe in helping each other in times of need. Many of our employees are also a Village resident which strengthens our commitment to each other and builds neighborly relationships.
